If your not familiar with japanese cuisine and fancy something different for lunch, take a bit of time to look at some answers to frequently asked questions. It's not all about raw fish, most of our food is served hot, freshly cooked with authentic japanese ingredients.
Frequently abbreviated as "don", is a Japanese "rice bowl dish" consisting of fish, meat, vegetables or other ingredients served over rice or noodles.
A traditional bento consists of rice, fish or meat, and one or more pickled or cooked vegetables as a side dish. At the Japanese Canteen our Bentos contain either fish, meat or a vegetable curry served with sesame spinach and seaweed salad together with a side dish of miso soup.

Teriyaki is a cooking technique used in Japanese cuisine in which foods are cooked in a sweet soy sauce marinade .
Katsu at the Japanese Canteen is either pork or chicken breast dipped in a mixture of flour, beaten egg and panko (japanese breadcrumbs) before being deep fried. The dish is served with Tonkatsu sauce, a type of thick japanese worcestershire sauce, or with a mild japanese curry.
At present there are no plans to provide this service, for large orders please contact staff at your local branch or the head office if you wish to arrange sushi platters or a bespoke service for meetings etc.
Please eat on the day of purchase, our sushi is freshly made daily and should be eaten as soon as possible for maximum enjoyment. If taken home and refrigerated it should be consumed within 12hrs of purchase.
For business meetings we can provide bespoke sushi platters and a selection of cooked foods. Large orders for sushi should be ordered at least 24hrs in advance, cooked food from the menu can be supplied direct from any of our branches, please speak to a member of staff at your local branch or contact the head office if you wish to book a large order.
